Artificial insemination timing on pregnancy rate of Holstein cows using an automated activity monitoring

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the probability of pregnancy and associated factors for two times artificial inseminations (AI), 8 or 10 hours after automated activity monitoring (AAM) alarm on first postpartum AI 1,054 Holstein dairy cows. The estrus was synchronized by prostaglandin estradiol-progesterone program. Stepwise logistic regression performed to analyze pregnancy, (activity, intensity, parity, peripartum health, retained placenta, vaginal discharge, season). highest rates were obtained with multiparous animals, inseminated ten AAM alarm, in fall winter season, a high peak intensity (P < 0.05). Peripartum diseases, discharge negatively influenced rate, regardless parity. Thus, optimization models including on-farm measures like health history, environmental conditions may favor correct identification improve regarding ideal moment AI, increasing reproductive performance
